Hey terrific! I'm glad it was something straightforward. Enjoy the rest
of the setup.

Think you nailed the problem here. Once I took the bike off the stand I
could see the wrongness of the angle. Good eyes Minh and Bill. One day
I'll have that too. Thanks guys!

That looks very wrong. The tombstone should be parallel to your headtube,
and the top of the Marks rack should be level to the ground. Step back 6
feet and take another shot. It looks like your Marks rack is tilted WAY
up.

That is true. Used to the 2nd set of struts going to the fork crown so I don't
think about it much - just something to do when mounting the platrack.
I keep a second set of bolts for platrack use. They need to be 4mm - ish longer
than the ones for the Mark's rack struts.

i have my platrack on a 60cm QB and just measured my cut stays at 40cm.
from the pictures your mark's rack does look high, not sure if it's an
optical trick, but the diving board looks more upright to me. and from the
angle of your tombstone it looks too far tilted back, on my mark's rack

Good idea, and without the platrack attachment I think I'd do just that.
The platrack uses the 2nd set of mark's rack eyelets to attach itself, and
the nitto rack bolts aren't long enough to use in that situation

I think you could lower that rack by using the two-strut-to-one-eyelet method
that a few of the RBW employees are using to make up the difference. Get rid of
the diving board.
Hard to say without measurements for sure, though.

Thanks for the replies. Will certainly post photos this evening; don't
think I have my mark's rack mounted particularly high...but I'll let the
group decide ;-)
The struts are brand new, so know they've never been lopped.

The previous two responders have 650B bikes, while your 57 Hilsen is a 700c

did have it installed on a 700c bike, a 56cm Hillborne.
One thought is that you have a Hilsen and therefore have a Mark's Rack.
Maybe you have
I had mine on a 56 AHH, had to cut the struts too. 42 was the length they
came with, and Riv still sells replacements but I haven't seen anything on
the web longer than that. At least made by nitto that is.

Weird, I had mine originally mounted on a 57 cm Bleriot. Pretty sure I
lopped off some material with a dremel too -- perhaps prior owner did same
on a smaller frame.
