+1 for registering on Bike Index, it totally works!
One of my time-wasting habits is to browse CL for used bikes and parts. I
saw a suspicious post the other day, checked Bike Index, and sure enough it
was a stolen bike! Just now heard back from the owner that she recovered
her bike.

I need to register my bikes as well, and at some point need to plan an S24O
to China Camp, probably taking the train to SF from Palo Alto. It's in my
bucket list!

Will,
That's a good point I hadn't thought of. It just so happens I used
photos of my bike in front of the wall outside my house, so that
works. But, I'm thinking even better would be to include a photo of
yourself with the bike. Put that on bikeindex, and it's gonna be
pretty hard to refute.

Thanks for this nudge.
I registered my Atlantis and attached two pictures. Took maybe 3-4 minutes.
If the LBS folks and others keep a weather eye on the stolen list this
should be an effective way to get the word out if you ever need too. What's
nice is you can list your parts, if you want. I
I'm just curious as to whether folks here also register their bikes with
the local police, if such registration is available. I've done it in
Sacramento 40 years ago, and I do it today in Montgomery Co. Maryland. You
can now to it online here. Do people not like to put the stickers on

no one can say " But that's my bike, and that's my serial number! Yeah, the
one he posted on there!".

It's a 55 with 700c wheels. Yeah, fenders would be nice, but I hardly
ever ride in the rain, here.

Thanks Weth. That's an excellent write up.

That's a valid observation about the bosco bars lack of a forward position.
I've slammed my bosco bars down to their lowest possible position and I still
feel better with my hands forward of the grips on top of the brakes/shifter. I

Hugh,
Well, it is almost "mine" since that's the same size and color that I
ordered. A big reason I wanted to go check it out in person.
When I decided to order one, I knew that the bars would be a question.
But I figured that if it turns out I don't like them, I'll just

Hi Patrick,
I just went through your images and I have to remark, that is a sweet
looking machine or better stated a fine steed indeed. The color is
gorgeous. Very good build.
On handle bars, I've never felt comfortable with that type of bar almost
too upright for me. But one's comfort is so s
I didn't make note of exactly what those tires are. They are not the
stock tires that will come with the bikes. I think they are 2.2". At
least 2.1". They looked to me to be the fattest you could possibly fit
on the bike. (Didn't get a good photo, but there is about zero

I must have arrived at RBW just after you. I took a 62 Hunq out for a spin,
it's quite different from my '98 LongLow, very stable and slow to tip. But
I want to try a 62 Joe, too, when they're here for test rides. Those

Patrick,
I'm not used to the bars yet. I feel most comfortable on them so far
with my hands placed farther forward. I'm OK with sitting up more, and
having my hands back. I think I'll have to spend more time before I
make a real decision about the bars. It is true that there are
