FWIW, the Dimension cork grips are "beaver cork" - chips held together in resin. (even though they call them 100% cork). I'm sure after you shellac them, they would feel just great and hold together fine. I put Miesha's grips on my daughter's bike - they're made from fine cork rings, like the

Not sure if this helps but Dimension makes cork grips. Before RBW sold the Miesha's grips, they sold a grip like this and folks had to modify them to accommodate bar-end shifters. If I remember correctly, there was an article in the Riv Reader or one of the catalogs about how to do this. Perhaps
