I think the TA trail goes through Marion, KY and Cave In Rock using the
ferry that is there. I'm not sure if that is different than the original.
It would be hard to get out of Paducah without resorting to a car though;
the bridges are not bike friendly at all.

Hard to write how amazing this past weekend was.
Lets say that it's amazing that a simple bike company and yet not so simple

something fantastic.

Doesn't the original Transamerica Trail go through Paducah?

Sorry about that, I do forget that sometimes. Up here is Paducah,
Kentucky. Not a huge town, but we have a pretty good number of local bike
riders and some good activism going on.

I forgot to add to my weekend rides; on Saturday night the local bike
club/bikeshop/church group hosted a night bike ride; the first for our
town. It was quite a turnout for the event with nearly 400 riders enjoyed

Amit, as others have said, I enjoyed the photos and narrative
characterization of the event. I stared and grinned in amazement that
anyone would be wearing layers, long sleeves, and jackets in July.

With all the beautiful scenery, bicycles and people in attendance it felt
like a sacred magical lugged steel ground. There was a lot of love in one
place that night.
Saturday I rode with two friends on a local bike path in Kentucky then over
the Ohio River on a bridge that is currently closed to motor vehicle
traffic and normally doesn't allow bikes, to another bike path in Illinois.
I rode my canti orange Sam Hillborne, friend also rode his Hillborne (canti
Hi Patrick,
We had one spill, but other than a few battle scars and a torn battle shirt
(that comes with a good story), everyone survived fine.

I did a virtual entmoot - 108K/68 mile RUSA populaire plus riding to and
from the start, but with the temps around 98-102F, I was more focused on
survival than taking pictures.
I did data log the ride so there's that

Hi all,
I went to Manny's deadly ride from the Ferry building to San Rafael before
splitting off back to the Larkspur ferry back to SF. It was fantastic to
meet a bunch of folks from the list and ride to Fairfax, and then several
brave souls continued up into the off-road trek. It was my first m
I spent the weekend in Boise Idaho, far from the Bay Area, and even further
from my Honolulu home. I did get in some riding after I realized my hotel
was right on Boise's Greenway, a huge bike path system bordering the Boise

I spent the weekend riding the STP (Seattle to Portland) with my brother.

I love your fog and rain photos. It looks like a great ride. Do you get
lightening storms as part of your rain? If you get another ride, let us

Patrick,
Thank you for coming up with great idea.
I am enjoying other people's great photos.
Today I packed sandwiches and coffee-brewing utensils in pannier bags, and
set out for a ride.
It started raining earlier than expected, so I had to go back home, and
ended up eating lunch in my room.
