My business partner Kevin just set up his Sugino PX double with a 118. Apparently, there were two possible ways to assemble the crank. I don't know the details, but one way required a really long BB, and the other required 118. I think he was using a narrower rear end, like 120ish. On Jan 13, 7:3

I'm running a 116 +5R with a Cyclotouriste wide range double (46-26) on my rando bike. 7sp in the rear. I wouldn't go any shorter, and would recommend a 119 +4R if you are considering using a larger inner ring and 8 or 9 cogs in the back. This because I'm using mine as a 1x7 with a bail out on

Yeah, a double will require a 122 symmetrical, or a 118+5 Phil Wood. Velo Orange sells TA Cyclotouriste bits, as does Box Dog Bikes in San Francisco. There may be others. P.S. Peter White doesn't sell, and may actually loathe the TA Cyclotouriste stuff. You've been warned ;-) Gino On Tue,

I'm setting it up with a double. All these decisions are killin' me. I'm going to give Peter White a call and ask when I'm ordering my wheels--I think he's the only one in the US that sells TA. On Jan 13, 4:49 pm, "Gino Zahnd" wrote: > Are you setting up a single, double or a triple? > > In my e

Are you setting up a single, double or a triple? In my experience, a TA double on a Saluki requires a 122, or maybe a 118+5 Phil Wood. A triple likely needs a 127.5, or a 125+5 (Phil Wood). Even with a BB that wide, the Q-factor is still very low - around 141mm for the double. Here's Todd's Sa

113 works fine on relatively wide-stayed Rivendells for single ring use (ring in outermost position), at least with the no-more-than 46 ring I always used for fixed. On Tue, Jan 13, 2009 at 10:32 AM, JoelMatthews wrote: > > TA use JIS. > > But is 113 too narrow? Cyclotouriste were designed for

TA use JIS. But is 113 too narrow? Cyclotouriste were designed for bikes with more narrow chainstays than on current bikes. 113 might put the crank too close. On Jan 13, 8:29 am, KevinInBoston wrote: > What type of spindle should be used for TA cranks? I am in the process > of building up my

What type of spindle should be used for TA cranks? I am in the process of building up my first bike, and I'm using an old TA Cyclotouriste crank. I bought a P.W. 113mm BB, which is JIS, and I'm wondering if I should have bought the "Campy"-specific P.W. BB instead (which presumably is ISO?)? I ha
