Never tried it, but my gut feeling is that there will be some kind of problem using 10sp chain on a crank designed for 7sp (that said, I have run 9sp on an old SunTour XC Pro crank with no issues). There are now (or will be soon) many more 10sp MTB/touring triples on the market, if you want perfect

So if I shifted the front with friction, would XD2 work fine with 10 speed chain? Or would the skinny chain drop between the chainrings? 2010/8/19 Jim Thill - Hiawatha Cyclery > The spacing between the chainrings on the XD is for 7/8sp chain. If > you are using indexed shifting for 10sp with 10s

...except certain combinations ( Campy 10 spd shifters work with 8 speed Shimano cassettes for example) someone coined the term "Shimergo" I have used the Stronglight Impact with a Campy 10 speed system successfully. The Impact arms are identical to the Sugino XD (with a different logo of course)

The spacing between the chainrings on the XD is for 7/8sp chain. If you are using indexed shifting for 10sp with 10sp chain, then the front derailleur won't push the chain far enough to make the shift. You could get around this if your front shifter is friction, but I imagine there is a risk of the
