The new Staff Bikes section is much better than the old one IMHO. The
photos and descriptions are better. Well done and thanks to Dave@Riv for
putting it up again.Jenny's AHH is probably my favorite with
distinctive 2TT and heterogeneous shifting setup.

Are you supposed to shellac those little twine frame protectors?

Twelve bikes. Three have a Mark's Rack in front, and all three of those
have the double struts mod. I like it.

You received this message because
Home made frame protection from handlebars swinging around and denting the
tt is usually what those are for, IMO.

I agreed with Addison the Legolas bike was before my time and I wish they
still had it. My next bike would have to be a custom Legolasish 650b go
fast bike.

I'm not sure it's the price that's keeping the Riv folks from using dynamo
lighting. During the last garage sale, they had a whole bag of new SP
dynamo hubs that were sold for a song ($20 or $25). If any of the Riv folks
had wanted those, I suspect they would have gotten a similarly good price
While I like and use dynamos, there is a nice thought to having a good
battery powered light. Have one for my SimpleOne as am trying to keep that
bike, well, simple.

I wasn't shocked by the lack of dynamo lighting. It's still a pretty pricy
thing to have on a bike. I live in the PacNW and commute every day and don't
have one.
The surprise for me was no fenders! How do you ride a bike with no fenders? :)

I don't think I've ever seen a dynohub bike at Rivendell, in person or in
photos. They seem to be happy with good battery-powered lights that can be
removed in the summer.

I didn't leave anyone out by intention, I just rounded up the bikes that
were here yesterday, a Thursday. That's who was here. More coming.
There's no prep or dressing up or "wait, let me put my fenders back on" so
I'll try to sneak them when the bikes aren't prepared.

It's all in the posture, lads. Long stems and swept back bars make it easy.

Hey, Mike,
Good eye. Yep, I'm in Portland, on board working remotely, doing some
scrounging/sourcing, updating some of the social media stuff, and "other
duties as assigned." It's extremely part-time, but its great to be *be*back.
Cheers,
John

I'm glad they reinstated this. Nice collection of Rivs showing a nice range
of builds. I hope they add in the PT's bikes. My favorite bikes in the
bunch... hard to say, Probably Sean's SH and John's Atlantis.
I was confused by what was written about John's bike--" Great to have you
back John."
Better late than never. I've sent more than one email heckling to get
this back! The RBW Staff Bikes Flickr group has more photos, too.

I'm sad not not see a Legolas in that mix. Always one of my favorite riv

My saddles look about the same. With sit bones on that flat "landing area"
at the back of the saddle and a slightly upright posture, there is body
bottom comfort with no "jewel" damage. Think of the upraised pommel on a
horse's saddle. You don't sit on that either.

John's bike keeps with historical precedent. As with his bike showcased in
the previous Staff Bikes collection, the current one on display sports his
patented family jewels-busting saddle tilt. It gives me the willies just
looking at it. But if it works for him, who am I to begrudge the setup?
But they don't have the weekend staff, like Harry, Scott, Vince and Joe.
