Hi Dave, Hey, thanks for the help. So, from my understanding you have the original Carmina arms, which were recommended with a 113 BB, but you used a Phil 119 BB which gives you the clearance you stated. What does your chainline measure BTW ? I've only found one other person online who use

Garth: I may have posted this to you before, but I've got 180 Carmina's with a 119 Phil BB and 46/34/22 chainrings - there is plenty of clearance from the chainstays. I measured out 5 additional mm's back from the ends of the crank arms along the stays and there's still lots of room from where th

Patrick Got it - I see your dilemma. There are a couple of places here that kind of have those conditions. I definitely don't enjoy them much with the 50c XR's. Definitely big tire territory. I'm quite sure that the Bombadil wouldn't be able to run what you are looking for. I did run a Karate Mo

If I were in shape, I think I could grunt the Monocog up most of it, with some bailouts; I'd love to try the dirt -- after all, didn't Grant invent biking-+-running? Garth: the BAs I have *are* 2.3s, but mounted on the Snowcats, they measure an actual 65 mm. (Aside: For some reason, the BAs seem

65's? Not for the Bombadil... I think spec is 2.3" . . which is 58.4 mm. That would fit in the front . . . but I don't think the rear would take that. Sounds like you need a Puglsey! (If it's fits you) That way you could use any tire you want to float over the sandy soil. --~--~-~--

Dave: I need fat and soft tires for sand -- I live in the bosque near the Rio Grand here in ABQ and the soil is exceptionally sandy; fine, old river silt. And while 2" tires would work, they won't work nearly as well as the 65 mm that the 60 mm BAs actually measure on my 45 mm rims, run at no more

I can' wait to get my Bombadil going . . . but I'm waiting on some crank width info as the Bombadil's chainstay clearance is tighter than I expected. I'm hoping to use a TA Carmina in 185mm, but finding the correct BB size appears to be trial and error. I need lower Q cranks . . .like my Zeph
