I'm no expert, that would be Eric Norris, the Campy Only Guy, ;-).
However, I have the same 2002 Chorus 9 speed ergo shifters on my go
fast/climbing bike. From the pictures on Ebay, the shifters from the
auction look identical to mine.

speed Campy brifters. No shiftmate necessary.
I think your 8 speed setup could work just as well. The Campy spacing
is 3.0mm for 9 speed. Just unassemble your cassette and replace the
spacers. I got mine from Loose Scr
I should have said: "I wanted to use it with my 8-speed SHIMANO rear
gearing in conjunction with shiftmate."
