I agree. Even at + $1000 it should be wiped down and above $3000 it should
sparkle. My .02

yeah...I was pretty sure that the bike was not an A/R as advertised...took
another closer look at my 1997 A/R to verify. Older Rivs are pretty
cool...always neat to see a blast from the past

The LongLow came as a caliper model with smaller amount sold with Cantis.
See notes from GP in an older post to this list:
1. Originally, there was the RIVENDELL ROAD. Short reach, not custom.
2. The the RIVENDELL LONG LOW...similar to road, but slightly shallower head

still perfectly formed and unworn.

Nice bike but I also agree that the asking price is a bit steep. The Phila
Craigslist rarely gets any Rivs so it would be nice to have something pop
up (in my size of course!)

It sure looks like a Longlow. Wheel size and clearances indicate that. Also,
judging by the lugs and graphics, it appears to be from before the time All
Rounders and "road bikes" and others with the Rivendell decal all went custom.
Being a pre-custom All-Rounder would give it 26" wheels on that
At first. Then it went to 700C in the large sizes, but 56 cm would have always
been with 26" wheels when the AR had stock geometry. As the All-Rounders
transitioned to customs in the late 90's, I imagine it's possible that a
customer could have gotten a custom frame with 700C wheels that had th
DIdn't the All Rounder have 26" wheels, like the XO-1?

To be fair, original price may have little to do with current market value,
which can vary widely based on who sees the ad and how steeped in Riv history
they are. No, I don't think he's going to get 3200, but he'll get a fair price
from the right buyer if he sits on it a while.

They may have...mine's 54cm and was built for 26" wheels...and of course
configured for cantis...but if it's a 95 I think the frame price at that
time was around 1000 USD. $3200 seems a bit
optimistic as an asking price for what is a 22-year old bike in less than
mint condition. I agree with
Ryan, you may be right about road lugs, and I'm not sure 56cm A/Rs came with
700C wheels. I think this bike is a LongLow, the road bike with cantis to allow
for fatter tires.

yup it's cool allright...mine's 1997 vintage and I don't have the spears
and I think the lugs on mine are a little less ornate..his almost look like
road lugs. bit pricey though
