So on my bike there I've got 50mm gravel kings and Simworks Honjo 62mm's.
Works ok! We're a PITA to fit though, especially with a mudguard mounted
rear dynamo light... I'm not sure I' do full metal mudguards again on a
bike like this. Seems a better idea to have plastic ones you don't need to
I managed 50mm panaracers with velo orange fluted 65ish and that felt
maxxed, took some futzing to work too.

All praise for the looks go to Matt @HoboHubWorks here in St. Louis. I gave
him some ideas and he made them happen.
He does TREMENDOUS builds (like the old-school Rivendell Refresh bikes),
runs all kinds of groovy group rides (check out the Muskrat Ramble this
weekend if you're in Missouri!) and
Yes Michael. The thing is, I think it can do SOO many things well. I
wonder: will it ultimately panned for not being the "best" at anything?
For me it will *mostly* be my every-day bike. I'll go to the cafe on it.
Occasionally get groceries, etc. I'm convinced it will make a FANTASTIC
The bike looks great! I have a hunch the Appaloosa is going to be a modern
classic in the way the XO-1 became! Enjoy riding it and thanks for sharing!

Beautiful bike! I like this colour, and the wrapping you’ve done on the
bars and stays.
Agree that Appaloosas go so well with baskets.
Hope you have many fun and long rides on this one!
