thanks again for the nice words, everybody. the 50mm big bens fit comfortably. Will told me he had them on his with fenders, but there is definitely some finagling involved. I just measured them with the caliper and it came in at 46mm, slightly narrower than claimed. I rode the bike to work to

I had those brake levers in my Betty a few years ago, with the same handlebar. Had a front Paul Racer and a rear Silver brake. Found that when I needed to brake hard, like on a steep downhill, the levers would flex and I couldn't stop the bike. Switching to Paul reverse brake levers fixed that. Not

Love the flipped Sparrow bars - has a good old-school feel to it. Have you tried the Ergon grips designed for the swept-back bars (GC1 I think)? Not sure there's all that different from the standard ones, but I really like them on a MAP/Ahearne bar mounted relatively far and low as a compromise
