A Riv leasing program would be great but probably very very
impractical for RBW but not for us...

there's still that Hilsen and the Atlantis I'm lusting after...
Maybe Riv needs to offer a "perpetual" financing plan with automatic
monthly payroll deductions, where at some point one receives
electronic notification stating "Your N
That's pretty funny Ray. I've been in a similar spot since selling my
Rambouillet frame. Part of me just wishes I had pulled the trigger on
a new frame back in Dec when I sold the Ram. Instead I've been saving
up more and going back and forth between various bikes--Hunqa, SH, Big
Dummy, LHT, Troll
I experienced the negative to saving for a bike this past winter. I
had money all saved and was one phone call away from ordering a
hunqapillar frame when my wife and I started preparing for another
Maine wintah. While lowering the storm windows they literally came
apart in our hands. Well-you gue
Ray - it sounds like you are on to a lost idea. You could write a book on the
lost art of saving for something. It could be like a new diet book for
Euromericans.
It's funny - when I bought my Hilsen, it was the first thing I saved up for
probably since I was a kid. I then bought components
I stopped by RBW today. Keven said the 1st 2 lay-aways have been
reserved. One's a Simpleone and the other is a Hilsen. Neither are
mine. I'd go for a Hunq probably.
And on the topic of worst sellers, after Grant wrote that post, the
Grab Bags sold out.

I've never understood why lay away is more appealing than saving up
for something.
Of course in my case I never actually buy what I save up for. For
example I recently saved up for another Hillborne. I figured I could
leave the big racks, bags, baskets on and be ready for vacations
(tours), trip

Lay away really has me convinced that I should buy a Yves Gomez frame
and built it using a ENO rear hub to go single speed. Perfect city
bike - with either white or red Hetres, VO Bellville or Porteur bars,
my Brooks flyer, Sugino Mighty Tour set up for single speed….

Is that the clicking I hear coming from the back room? I thought it
was typing or a freewheel spinning, but it was the ABACUS. Is it true
that your exercise area has an abacus with 5-lb stones, so you can do
Primal-invoice-management?

PS: According to the dictionary, abacuses or abaci are both correct.

Wouldn't that be "abaci"?
Also, you've got really nice erasers. Be prepared to use those too! :)
The lay-away thing is very cool. I will definitely be making use of it
for my next frame purchase.
Well done, RBW!

Dear William,
Computers? Strictly for amateurs.
We have abacuses, slide rules, and No. 2 pencils at Rivendell, and
we're not afraid to use them.

Where's the fun in that? And you call yourself a "recreational
mathematician"! What's your average rate of furlongs per fortnight
when riding?

I am very fond of Rivendell as a business and I am possibly even more
fond of Rivendell's employees as individuals. Please remember that

I know, this seems like a good way to go for them and their customers
(us!). I've been going back and forth forth for a few months now
trying to decide what frame to get for a camping/touring type bike and
this just seems to be complicating it.
