Gear story thanks for sharing! My Mom just had the procedure done and just got
back on the exercise bike this week. I hope the recovery continues and you
reap the benefits of the new hip for many years!

Reads like you're well on the way to complete recovery. Good news. I had a
complete hip replacement in 2007. It didn't take but a few months to get
back on the bike but it took at least a year to feel 95%. Occasionally I
still get a some pain in that area but it comes and goes. I'm cyclin

Rode a nice slow nine miles along the the parks on the ocean here in
Honolulu. No hills, though a bit of playing in traffic (as little as
possible).
I felt great but it was enough for today. The Hunq was the perfect bike
though: cushy ride, nothing twitchy.
Tomorrow I'll start commuting again, bu
Yes, excellent news, Bob!

Yet another example of Rivendell versatility. A Hunq with Big Bens for hip

Terrific. I know I get well testy, when I can't ride for awhile.
Enjoy the moment.
Your post reminds me of a funny story. I was a hospital chaplain for 13
years as well as a pretty well known biker in Vermont. A friend, and owner
of quality bike sop was in a serious bicycling accident
Fantastic, Bob! Enjoy being back on the bike!

Great news. Today, six weeks after my hip replacement, I've been cleared to
ride a real bicycle again. I've actually been on a stationary exercise
bicycle since four days after surgery with no problem, but they didn't want
me actually out and about until now.
The first bike I'll ride will be the H

Hey Bob,
It sounds like you have a great outlook post-op. I had a double knee
replacement in 2010 and have been ecstatic ever since. I did a Southern
Tier ride in 2011, and although I set my goals for a rather unrealistic
daily mileage, I still had an awesome time on the ride. I'm currently

A buddy of mine had both hips and a shoulder replaced in the past two years. He
just placed 10th in his first ever MTB race and has a much more positive
outlook on life with the pain gone. Recovery can lead to great things!

Bob:
Several of my buds have had various joints replaced (yea, I hang with an
older crowd) and hips seem one of the least problematic and quickest
recovery. I'm sure you'll be back on Rivs soon & sending us photos. PT is
the key. Got a spare Brooks you can slap on the stationary? Now there'
Bob,
Thanks for the update and I'm sure that the progress will have you walking
around better than before. Really great to hear the stationary biking went
well and that bodes well for a hasty return to the Riv's. Look forward to
the "cyclomentaries" Thanks for the acknowledgement Chris.

Bob, newly hip in Honolulu! Grin. May you heal well and rapidly! You are in
