Reminds me to take a picture of my huge mixte's serial number. Also reminds me
of a shop I used to frequent in Peoria years ago. Someone left a custom
Rivendell on the doorstep overnight. No note. No one claimed it in the few
years I was there. For all I know it's still there.

Philip Meyer, contact the local police departments in the surrounding areas
you bound it. Give them details and location of the bike now. The rightful
owner will be periodically checking in there to see if miracles really do
happen, and if dreams actually come true. Peace and Love, sir. Howard
Sadly they do not! It was Riv that I called; they told me they could tell based
on the SN that it’s a Waterford but didn’t have a record of the owner. Thank
your wife for her kind words (and thanks to all the others here). Rivals are
special so it’s worth it; although I bet someone out there had
Dumb question: I know you checked with Waterford, but did you check with
Rivendell themselves to see who the serial number matches up too? Or maybe
Rivendell themselves sold it initially to a dealer? I just can't imagine
Rivendell does not have a record of the FIRST buyer of the bike at least.
Philip,
You are a good man. I have always told my wife I need to be ready to buy a
bike if I saw it being sold and figured it was stolen. Am happy you acted
quickly.
May I suggest asking the potential true owner for certain details about the
bike, such as scratches and dents, or details on t
Thank you for doing this, Philip! Great bit of public service there. I hope
it can be reunited!

Really cool. Good job. I see a guy riding around a similar era riv road in
Glendale, but his is a considerably darker blue. Where in central LA? I wonder
if there are local bike shops in that area that may know the owner.
I suppose the other question is what kind of proof of ownership would be
You are a true gem, Philip. I learned recently that there is a Rivendell
Owner's page on facebook, too. It's a closed group, so you won't be
broadcasting to all of facebook. Might be worth a try as well.

Well, Philip, that was such a wonderful, kind-hearted gesture...made my
Sunday morning. What a joy!
Hope you find the owner and that he/she takes you out for a nice dinner
somewhere. BTW, we visit LA and our kids regularly. Lots of nice machines
out there and you've got to hang on tight!
