Thanks, everyone, for your replies. I'm going clean this time. Now I just need to settle on tape. On Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 4:05:02 PM UTC-7, David wrote: > > I'm curious what the group's opinion or preference is (and why) regarding > barcon cable routing. AFAIK, on the one hand, you ca

hi, sorry I'm slow - that's my buddy's Dahon and supposed to be a bell, from the same Dutch folks who sell the solid copper fenders. I like the fenders, but that bell is too soft-spoken. On Friday, March 20, 2015 at 4:45:59 PM UTC-5, Minh wrote: > > hi ron, what is that copper disc in the sec

If you're packing a bike to ship to the start of a tour, there's more flexibility with the wrap to the curve in the bar due to "longer" cables. Joel Livermore, CA On Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 4:05:02 PM UTC-7, David wrote: > I'm curious what the group's opinion or preference is (and why) reg

I did my daughter's barcon cables out the bottom - ithey're not in the way, came out neat, nothing over-stressed, and room for cross brakes (interrupters) Also looked at photos on the Riv site, and I took photos

I've run both ways in the last few months: Noodles - under the tape right up to the stem. 10-speed indexed barcons. Zero issues, shifts like an absolute dream. Front friction shifter is also great. Now I have Albatross bars, which means the cabling is flying free. I don't notice any difference

I've routed the cables where they exit just at the end of flat part, out around the brake hoods, and all the way up near the stem. It never seemed to matter to shifting. The various locations were to deal with different front bags. dougP On Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 4:05:02 PM UTC-7, Da

I belong to the under-the-tape, up-to-the-stem school. Tidier. Always out of the way. Friction not an issue. If desired, and if there is no other conflict, like a bottle cage mounted under the down tube, you can run the housings to the opposite ("wrong") down tube stops, and then cross the

I have one bike on which I opted to try the "free as can be" method of just a few turns of the tape. I haven't really sensed any benefit, in fact I find the loosey-goosey housings distracting while moving hand positions. Both of my others have the housing running under tape along the flat of the

There's a third way: Don't wrap it under any tape at all. Install your shifters and run your cables after your bars are taped and shellacked. That's what I would call the RBW way. My Bombadil is run the RBW way, no tape over, and it's fine. Shimano 8sp index My Homer has a right barcon on
