Can you post the results of the fender install? What tires will you plan to
use these huge fenders? I'm very curious to see how it looks!

Ouch that's rough. There are at least two hardware stores in my town that
have a nice selection of metric stainless steel hardware. Nylon spacers too.

Jim, Wine cork & whatever can work & work very well; I've made spacers out
of a variety of things, but what I will suggest in this instance is
something different.
Try threading in a long screw, but instead of a cork or spacer, install a
fairly stiff spring!
