You recall correctly. When Grant successfully persuaded Tektro to make 57mm
(and 75mm!) brakes, and then Shimano joined the party, the game changed
significantly.

If I recall correctly, you couldn't buy standard reach brakes in the late 90s,
so you were limited to used or NOS brakes if you designed around them.

post sounds dismissive of the bike. Nothing of the sort. It was a wonderful
riding bike. I just wanted to fit fenders and fatter tires, so I moved on to
the Rambouillet. I wish I could have kept both.

If a frame from that era had a 753 decal either it was a mistake or someone put
it on after it shipped.

I meant to say the 753 sticker was on the seat tube, down by the bottom
bracket.
