Yeah they don't seem to sell the build kits any more. In terms of shipping, turns out shipping a frame is only $10 cheaper than sending the full bike. I did however think I would be able to source components and build up my own one cheaper than a complete bike. However this doesn't seem to be th

Thanks! I can't find 650b rim brake compatible wheels in Australia. I'm even prepared to build my own wheels if I can locate some rims. That is also a struggle. It seems that rim brake compatible 650b wheels in Australia really are becoming dinosaurs.. On Sunday, February 10, 2019 at 7:57:16 AM

Thanks Patrick! Yes it certainly is a puzzle. Moreso where to find the pieces one I've selected them! The main thing I'm really struggling with is the 650b wheelset. It is hard because I could go and get a Soma/Surly/Salsa frame for the same price, with much easier access to wheels (disc brake

Welcome, Owen! It’s exciting and full of over-thinking to puzzle out a bike build, ain’t it? Grin. One of the gifts of this group is the expertice in various details, but in the end, we each have to figure out what works for us when the rubber meets the road, the hands the bars, the feet the ped

I really like the Jones Loop barn on my Clem. Maybe it’s something you can’t find in Australia, and it would fit in the frame box. Eric On Thursday, February 7, 2019, OwenS wrote: > Hey everyone, long story short I'm from Australia and after a Riv bike so > I can ditch the lycra and my race bik

Riv used to list some very affordable build kits that would be really hard to beat price wise unless you already had a bunch of components. I suspect everything shy of bars and wheels would fit in the frame box. It would be worth asking them first since you are already getting a frame. Ray --

Have you looked at bike flights shipping costs? I am pretty sure that they’ll be cheaper than what Rivendell uses, but I’d imagine you could buy the bikeflights shipping and have the frame picked up from Rivendell. Its really hard to know what stem length you’d want, without knowing what kind

Hey everyone, long story short I'm from Australia and after a Riv bike so I can ditch the lycra and my race bike :) Am looking at the 52cm Clem H in Green, as it seems like a good all rounder and the most affordable of the bunch. I can only afford to ship a frameset to Australia so I will need t
