Blackmtncycles' mike Varley posted a good blog post a few years ago that goes
over canti setup pretty well. Its probably hard to get a grasp on it
completely without being a mechanic who does it day in and day out. But its
really just angles and a few little tricks and tips

I'm definitely curious about a non-biased head to head for the Compass vs
Paul's. My 1 year plan for my Saluki includes a repaint and braze ons for
brakes.

Ive tried almost all of Paul brake offerings besides their disc brakes.
I've had good luck setting up their cantis. The touring cantis feel a bit more
powerful, but I like the wide profile for larger tires and more clearance for
mud and slightly better modulation. Out of all Paul brakes that fit

I would say the Racers are more forgiving of poor mechanics skills. I say this
because I can get them set up welll whereas me and cantis... not so much.

The best brakes of all, bar none, that I've ever used were the IRD high
profile cantis with salmons on the Rive-built Sam Hill I once owned. Power,
feel, modulation -- the best.
Perhaps Riv can prepare a little tutorial about how to set up cantis?

in a few years of working on bikes, the one thing i’ve never gotten the
hang of is the proper adjustment of cantilever brakes. even the paul
