You need to give yourself a lot more credit. Your commute is "long" IMHO.
I commute 10 miles rt and feel good if I ride all 5 days in a week. You
should feel great if you are only able to bike your commute a couple of
days a week. 50 miles per week of commuting is pretty good. Three days

My daughter rides a Surly Cross Check. High bottom bracket but takes wide
tires. The low handle bars don't bother her young bones one bit.

If you go with cotton, you want to go ahead and schellac them at least
twice. The schellac gives them a nice leatherish feel. The straight
cotton is a bit hard on the hands after a couple of hours. I resisted the
schallac for a while before finally trying it. Made the straight cotton

I was going to make a reply on Julian's post on unwanted criticism coming
from others, but I decided to start my own.
I used to sign up for rides and train for them and ride with a group with a
common kit and all that. As I had kids and life got in the way I also got
burned out on the racing g
Love the orange LHT... and of course the Romulus! Lazarus may be a
better name for your Romulus because it was raised from the dead.

Hi Justin,
In addition to the great ideas you are getting here, I would recommend a
BIG exterior light with a motion sensor. Like a street light. That way
when someone approaches your garage, they will "see the light".
Of course, write down your serial numbers on your bikes and take pictures
Anyone have experience adding a spacer to convert shimano road hubs to 135mm?
My primary question is can you simply add a spacer to the non drive side or
should I replace the axle with a mtn axle and add a spacer?
I am looking for wheels for my homer.

Do not use nail polish remover to thin the paint. I have tried this before
and the nail polish remover had more than just solvent in it. It also had
something that caused the paint to coagulate and glob together.I would
use regular thinner.

Do the Choco's take bar end shifters? And I am assuming they are sized for
mountain bike brake levers?

Wow! Love the color!!! Reminds me a little of "coppertone". What do you
call that color? I want to call Riv today and order one!

I love this post. I am a mechanical engineer but not an expert for sure on
this but I have a good theory. It is moving due to vibration of the fork as
you travel down the road. The vibration of the fork will occur moving the
fork normal (90 degrees) to the angle that it connects to the hub. T
ess of trial.

Hi Sean,
I think the most important thing you have mentioned is that you want to
rive very upright. I own a cross check and an LHT. I recently bought my
wife a Rivendell (Betty Foy) because I could not get the cross check that I
bought for her to be comfortable at all. We almost bought the Sa
I think the Appaloosa is A LOT like the old Stumpjumpers. The really old
stumpies LONG chain stays back in the early days. I think that anyone that
has an upright bar on an Atlantis would be really comfortable on the
appaloosa due to the longer stays. Love the colors and the fork crown!

I just visited the Riv HQ and test rode a few of the bikes. The guys in
the store (Vince and Will) were awesome and patient with my excitement for
my pilgrimage to Mecca!
My question: All of the bikes were Rapid Rise (backward in the rear, hmm
bassackward?). Is there a reason why? I also b
