-40's will be fine, tire-wise, I rode most of the OR Rando schedule
last year on 38mm Panaracers.
-No need for lights at all, start point is 8am and cutoff for finish
is 2:40pm
-Should be wet -- spare socks and gloves would be nice to have packed
(plus plastic bags for storing your dirty ones).
This is obviously an instance of "YMMV", but Brooks handlebar tape is,
to my hands, one of the worst cycling products I've ever used. Not
that it was poorly made, but it was just incredibly uncomfortable for
riding >60 miles, especially in warm weather.
Cheap synthetic stuff is my old stand-by.

I hadn't seen the Covered Bridges ride... when/where is that one? I
need to do a few frame fit tweaks, but otherwise I'm definitely
intending on doing a 400 in the next few weeks!

This ride was my second-ever brevet -- first being the Birkie earlier
this month.
Unfortunately, the 6:00 start time meant I left Forest Grove about
thirty minutes behind almost everyone else, as the first MAX of the
day could only bring me into Hillsboro by 6:03.
