Ooh Drew, your "one bike" sounds dreamy! Have you seen Nua Bikes? They make
bikes just as you describe. I've been lusting after one of those for so
long. They will even do a titanium fork if that's what you want. But like
you, waiting on the lottery before I can import one.

Mine would be a custom Clem. Painted a sparkly light pink with that
pearlescent look, built up with all Silver components. And it would have
custom decals with her proper Clementine name, no more Smith Jr! Oh and
definitely a different head badge, something colourful and pretty, the Clem
badge
Maybe this is heresy here, but I ride my ebike on windy days. Hauling
groceries uphill into the wind is doable for me, but I'm absolutely
miserable on my Clem when I do it. I can't haul as much on my ebike, but
putting it into turbo on those days puts me into the best of moods!

Leah, I think that Clem needs some studded tyres. Then you would only have
to look longingly at your Platypuses in January/February! Riding on quiet
snow packed streets is an absolute joy, feels like I'm cheating, being out
there on two wheels in the winter, it is exhilarating!

I want my bicycles to be as silent as possible. I don't get annoyed with
other people's loud hubs, because it's only in passing, I don't have to
hear it all the time. The stock Formula hub on my Fuji makes the Deore on
my Clem sound loud!

In 2017, I was getting ready to do my first tour. And I was reading nearly
everything my library had related to bicycles in preparation. That's when I
found Grant's "Just Ride" book. I had never heard of Rivendell before then.
