Congratulations How exciting when the planning and futzing over the
bike and parts finally come together. Any changes in parts and such while
thinking over the build? I know when I built the Rivendell Mountain I went
back and forth on several items. Thought of doing an 8 speed freewheel, but

Eric - Good eye on the derailer! I admit I wanted the silver body more

Another thing that can be done, and I've done several times with both
Shimano and Phil BB's that kept working loose, is get a locking ring from
an old three-piece BB set, torque the NDS cup to where it feels right, hold
it in place with the BB wrench and tighten down the locking ring on the few
I've notice this with both Shimano and Tange cartridges. If torqued to what
the manual says, the spindle doesn't rotate freely. It's not "supposed" to
do that, but what good is that when it does ? So, I lessened the torque. I
also apply teflon tape on the threads, along with the grease. While te

I'm decluttering. So, for your consideration is nice use wool, leather, and

Hi Patrick,
If you search for "2mm banana connector" on Aliexpress, there are lots of
sellers...of course it will take a number of weeks to receive them!

Don't worry. Your "new" UN91 bb's are likely over 15 years or older since
leaving the Shimano factory. The grease inside has probably changed
viscosity due to non-use. Cartridge bb's don't usually require a "ream and
face" of the bb shell so if the cups are torqued to spec just attach cranks
Hello Scott,
Is there a screw for the under bottom bracket cable guide? It could be a
tad long and interfering with the bottom bracket. I would recommend backing
it out and if that helps adding a washer to the screw or replacing with a
slightly shorter one. I've had some difficulties with botto
Greetings,
For your consideration is a 56cm 1995 Rivendell Road frameset. I recently
posted this frameset as part of a “want to trade” listing, but that was
proving to be too complicated; hence, this straight up “for sale” listing.
The frame measurements are as follows: seat tube 56cm c-t-c; to
Edit correction to my post, please.
Second sentence of third paragraph of original post should read:
When I turn the spindle by hand it is not smooth (definitely some resistance
and a tad sticky), unlike the one I installed in Atlantis or an uninstalled on.

Hey, Bunch:
Pinging the group's knowledge for input/feedback on an issue I'm having
with an install of a new cartridge style BB in a new frame.
I'm building a new Atlantis and Gus. I installed a new BB (Shimano XTR
UN91) in Atlantis and torqued to spec. It's butterlicious smooth. Installed

Thank you Marty for sharing. I'm about to go out and get some orange touch

Thanks, Edwin. I shall do so.
To all, a number of list members have sent me a private message notifying
me of a red Toyo 58 Atlantis for sale in the Bay Area. I was pleased to see
that at least some Toyo frames included the braze-ons that I associate with
later Waterford frames. Thank you, agai

Bob,
Good luck in your search. I have made the same search for many of the same
reasons in a slightly larger size. I had not heard of the Crust Nor'easter.
That checks a lot of the boxes except for color (esp in Canti). I have a
hard time justifying a bike that is not very different from my Joe
Looks like fun, Jake! Keep us posted ✌️
It's nice to see one of those old Nexave rapid risers going to use.
Where did you pick up that Nissen housing? I just used some on a build.
I think I have a royal blue safety triangle from Blue Lug, brand new. I'd
