I hope you enjoy the tires! I’ve got three bikes with RH (or Compass)
tires, some for years. I have two sets in the shed for another bike, and to
swap out knobbies for slicks. I enjoy the ride of those tires, and I
haven’t had bad flatting issues. My last set of flats were pinch flats,

I picked up a Swift Zeitgeist today at the Swift Human Error sale that will
replace my Fab's Chest. This one is just too much bag for me. I'm fairly
certain this is the Waxed Cordura version in Field Tan (they make waxed

I won't pile on, but Compass tires are boutique cycling at its best! In
other words, I can't afford them (I ride too much). And, then, one blew

I love Rene Herse tires and have them on two of my three bikes but hesitate
recommending them blindly. I've never flatted on one but have seen(and

that they would like to part with.

Joe,
They ride well on the road but I wouldn't say they are optimized for that
obviously. There is very little noise as you usually get from knobbies. I'm
planning to buy more 'supple' tires for it soon, maybe a set of Compass
Switchback Hill, not sure yet.

How do you like those tires on pavement?
Can’t wait to see how you spice it up!

I took a short gravel ride on my Clem L today and can report it handled

have had no interest from buyers I'm ready to spice it up Bicycle Belle

Looking into the history on this list, I see now that a 59 Heron Rando came

Selling my partner's Sam Hillborne, since she just got a platypus to
replace it. We were second owners and it's been in southern California it's
whole life. Someone told me this particular iteration was made at

great. Cle
Pam,
There is a Tektro USA replacement parts site. Try contacting them.
If this link doesn’t paste, do a search for them.

Pam, your going to have to post a picture of the brake caliper, or list the
model number as Tektro makes a lot of different brakes.

It's slightly off the topic of commuting bags, but over the many years I
have commuted via pedals (from age 17 to age 61), I discovered that a
single speed or fixed gear commute bike was ideal: much fewer repairs, no
malfunctions, and really strong wheels (the latter cannot be overstressed--

On my commutes I also carried a large thermos full of coffee since our office
coffee was pretty bad. It added weight but coffee is worth the extra effort.
I basically work from home now so I have to find excuses to get out and do
errands throughout the week to ride.

IF I sold my new Clem L I would buy this Sam Hillborne as I ride mostly
road miles and this would suit me better. The Clem is so nice though for
all around riding on multiple surfaces. Alas, I bought what was available
new from Rivendell at the time. The new photos do present the bicycle well.
This is a really nice bike! If anyone is on the fence about buying a Sam, I can
say with confidence that I absolutely love mine. I have it setup with albatross
bars and a 110mm Faceplater. It’s the most comfortable bike I’ve ever owned and
its my [current] favorite bike. But I’m yet to try a lon
These days it's semi-casual, but I still need to look sort-of
professional. I wear my top and just change my shoes and pants because
they can get dirty on the trip. Last week I got one leg soaked when a
driver ran over a big puddle at full speed.
I think I'll keep shoes in the office, so w
My friend has signed up for this year. Maybe we should all plan on going

I'd only want to do it on mine.

I've gone through 2 sets of brakes. The spring on the rear brake has
broken in the same place. If anyone has one from a pair of brakes, I'd be
interested. These brakes have been great. I've used them daily. They
last about 30,000 miles before the spring breaks. The rest of the brakes

Trying to finish my Quickbeam build before Spring. Wondering if anyone has
a nice-ish crankset they aren't using. 165 or 167.5 arms strongly preferred.

As always, the ways and reasons for folks commuting exceeds any single
