I think it will be a wonderful tribute to your dad to keep that bike on the
road.
Long-reach calipers: I don't love them either but if you have good pads
they'll probably be fine. Paul Centerpulls are great if you want to spend
the cash, but it's a lot of cash!

Thanks All!
Joe- that build looks similar to what I'm thinking... The will actually be
shipped out Monday, so I'll see what I got to work with when it gets here.
I'm really excited as I know Dad would have wanted to me to use it for
sure.

Sorry to hear about your dad. It sounds like he had good taste! I’m actually
planning my next build and it sounds almost identical to his build as it
currently stands. I say ride it as is and see how it feels to you before making
any changes You might find that you really enjoy it as is.

Thanks everybody, West Coast sounds like the answer, especially if they do
those gorgeous Fitz's. And the price is right! I kinda doubt I'll actually
make the plunge but could happen 🤷

I've been staring at that frame for weeks, it's gorgeous! At 5'-6"-ish it's
too small for me, I'll bet a 50 × 52cm would be perfect for you, especially
with drops or Moustache/Albastache bars.

I can vouch for West Coast Powdercoating. I had my bike repainted there
last year and I'm really happy with it. They charged $175 and the
turnaround time was only 4 days. D&D and Ed Litton are the others I know
of but charge more and take a lot longer.

I’m hoping the bars come back in stock. Iv had my eye on them for the last

Once again, thanks all for the comments and suggestions, and for indulging
me in my public ruminations on what is, after all, a very personal and
idiosyncratic problem. I still hope to talk to Analog about this, and about

Beautiful, money well spent!
I was kinda surprised to see the albatross bars after the Aherne bars, how
did you like them on those trails? And how did the Pass & Stow rack play
with the Motolites?

I am a little shocked that they are apparently bringing that change over to
the Charlie Gallop too. Instead of the V-brake/cantilever setup that the
previous prototype had. Since they are designing their own V brakes that
look to be quite nice it seems that they would push the bikes toward that.
For my money (quite literally, and too much of it!), Bombadil's build up to
be among the most beautiful bicycles ever created. The proportions and
functionality of Jason's Bombadil, along with the multitude of perfect
choices he made along the way during the build, put this particular bike at
+ another on this. If I never have to set up or use a front derailer again,
I’m a happy camper.

I started a tour yesterday using a 7 speed cassette (13-34 IRD) with a
46-32-20 triple crank, about a 15” low gear. Three long climbs today but
not steep, used all my gears with the two larger chainrings. Most of the
climbs around my house in central New Hampshire I would have to walk
without that
I love my 1x's, mostly with 9 speed cassettes but, I think, one 8 and one 7
speed freewheel. My favorite is a 42 up front with a 12-32 or 34 in back.
I can go almost anywhere but, sometimes, I might feel a little more
energetic, or have a tail wind and other times I might be feeling less

That is such a special bike. Congrats!
The paint colour seems extremely close to the original Sam Hillborne green,
is this deliberate of coincidental?
