Leah et al;
You pointed out exactly why the first thing I look at with bike fit is if I
can achieve the desired setback for my preferred position.
Everyone will differ and everyone will have their ideal range but once you
know your comfort zone you can get a better idea where your frame will fit

I know as much about birds as about cameras, so you may be right. I googled
herons albuquerque bosque and great blue herons came up and looked like
those in the photo, but what do I know.
I just googled both and they both look the same to me.

It did! Even without a groove in the Ergon grips it fit nicely and the
location the cable enters/exits the Microshift shifter was perfect. I
appreciate you texting me through the shifter swap Joe. For those thinking
of reusing a shifter cable, good luck. I got it all together with a new

It worked! Wow, you even have room under the Ergon grip for the cable. I
tried this years ago with a Shimano bar-end and wasn't that lucky. Score!

I discovered this rail situation with Brooks in a form that makes NO sense:
The adjustability range on steel- and ti-rail B17s is the same, but it's in
a different spot under the saddle. I can't remember which is which (I only
have the titanium now) but one of them starts with the saddle further
Those aren’t herons, look like sandhill cranes. If you’re referencing
acequias and the Rio Grande you’re possibly in Texas? If so Texas has a
hunting season for them and they’re referred to as “pork chops in the sky”.

FWIW, the carbon rail upgrade is longer than the cast aluminum (ask me how
I know), and I ended up having to go with that for proper fit. Carbon may
be a nonstarter for folks on the list, so I'm just throwing it out here.

Funny that with such a long bike that I too wanted more stretch. I kept
wanting to push the handlebars away from me (really, my bum backwards).
Joyce, I think we had an email discussion about it awhile back and that it

Joyce, I wish we had talked about this! I was hesitant to say I had this issue
because I thought I might be misinterpreting. These long bikes can’t feel
cramped, can they? But you had the same issue, and it might have even been
compounded by us both having Clems. When you ride a Clem you are lux
Looks good! I've used a Velo Orange Grand Cru setback seat post but it
didn't have THAT much set back.

I wasn't digging the Shimano flat bar shifter on my Tosco bars so I
installed a Microshift bar end shifter today. I think it is an improvement
although I may go with a thumb shifter mount at some point. In my opinion
the Shimano shifter doesn't play well on swept back bars. Photos in the

Great review, Leah! I had the same problem with my Platy, but solved it a
different way. I SO wanted a tan saddle to match the tan tire sidewalls
and grips so I bought a Selle Anatomica...the “new” style with the lighter
cast aluminum rails. All my other bikes have SA black saddles with steel
Nice review. I too have agonized over seatposts. I like Brooks saddles enough
to be afraid to invest $150+ in something with longer rails (Selle Anatomica
for example: intrigued, but frugal).
Getting behind the seat matters to me in ways lengthening the stem doesn’t
address. I have a bad knee/le

I don’t have a Clem, but have ridden Leah’s ( both older H model and newer
L model) for short rides and visits and was impressed with both. The L
model was like riding in a Cadillac. Smooth and “yummy.” I loved it.

Beautiful. I'm fairly surprised that this is still available. If only this
were a 58, I'd be gearing it up for Spring with fenders, lights, etc.
To the OP: Good luck with the sale.
To the next owner: You better pounce on it soon.
