Oh great Quickbeam! I think it's my favorite bike. Something about the
decals always make me thing of a gothic comic or something from 100 years
ago. If anyone has one of the few made for folks over 6' tall I'd love to
see it... and buy it!

Hi -
While we're at it, I've been looking for a 12-40 9 speed cassette to go on
a 1x setup for my new custom (replacing the one stolen earlier this year).
I would probably go with an 8 speed cassette except that Shimano 8 speed
bar end shifters have become rather hard to find.

If the head badge was put on upside down right from Rivendell, I personally
would keep it that way. I find such accidental anomalies charming and
perhaps even a good luck talisman.
I have to say I really appreciate the sage green paint. Congratulations on
the new purchase.

*Just* installed some 700x38 Gravelking Sk's on a project bike.
Haven't had a chance to ride it yet but they seem like a nice product,
especially for the price.
Measured in at 35.5 on some old Super Champion rims.

Some good suggestions coming in!
I'm VERY interested in the Barlow Pass in the endurance casing.
Aesthetically speaking, the RH tires can't be topped. But...I think I might
go with the Gravelkings when it comes time.

Hi Nick,
I tried your suggestion on the Tubus Tara installation by swapping the left
and right rack rails and has allowed me to set the rail almost perfectly
horizontal.
What front panniers are you using?
When I tried both my Carradice C and Gravel pack front panniers, I am
having trouble mount
Schwalbe Marathon Racers come in a 38, which will be more like a 36 or so
depending on the rim. I ride the 35's, 33.3 actual on 19mm ID rims, and
they ride very nicely, and they last. The only other tire I had that lasted
like these is the Big Ben raceguard ones. I ride mine @35-40 rear, 30-35

This thread made me get out the digital calipers and go check things.
After a bunch of re-measurements, I guess I just have to accept that I have
weird seatpost sizes.
2014 Sam Hillborne = 27.2
1982 Team Fuji = 27.2
2020 Soma Saga tourer = 27.6
2002 KTM tourer = 27.6

i swapped out dura-ace barends for silver1 (downtube) shifters on my homer

rehome the shimanos, i'll take 'em off your hands!

Saturday's weather forecast is sunny and mid-50's, should be great riding
weather to/from the Expo!
BTW, I'm planning to wear my light blue peace wheel shirt and will have my
shop sack slung over my shoulder.
Hope to meet up with the ROB members when I'm there,

I would certainly change the brake cables. If the housings look ok, leave them
(especially since changing them would require losing that nice tape/twine job).
Brake cables fail; housings just get rusty and old.
If the shifter cables look good, you can probably leave them in place. Look

Thanks, the gold Motolites are a tricky color but I think they go well with
the metallic chameleon green. I had a 60cm Cheviot in that color about 5
