I just emailed to see if it was still available. I really don’t need it but
seems hard to pass up if available and I’ll be at the Coast this weekend.

Joe, it seems to me that when I followed the standard instructions, my
experience was much like yours. Then I wanted to take them off, which I
managed by opening a gap between the grip and bar with an 18" zip tie and
squirting in some soap and water, then working the grip. It took a while. I

I opted for the Soma Osprey bars, even though I wished they were a little
prettier. They feel fantastic based on my initial impression. Thanks for
all the feedback folks!

The pro way to install grips is with compressed air. Your basic $50
compressor comes with a narrow blower nozzle. With that inside the grip you
pull the trigger of your compressor nozzle and the grip slides on literally
on a cushion of air. Before I could afford the $40 to buy a small

Holy crap, Jay, I hope I like the Chunky silicone grips 'cause I'm NEVER
sliding those suckers on again! I'm used to my trusty bolt-on Ergons and
haven't wrestled with slide-on grips in years. "Pour alcohol on bar and in
grips and slide on in one motion." HA. More like slide on in 500 itty-bitty

I was at Riv HQ yesterday and had a longish chat with several of the
staff. Will, Corey, Roman, Mark, and I waved hi to Vince. They had been
paying attention to my 10x200 thing, and we talked a little bit about that,
and we also talked about the Marin Mountains 200k that had been a big part

They are the standard 23.8 mm OD in the grip area, so yes they should be
able bar ends. The problem is usually with upright bars with smaller OD
(22.2 mm) in the grip area which requires thinner wall tubing in order to
use bar end shifters.

Hi All,
Does anyone know if these bars will take bar end sifters? I'm guessing so
but thought I might ask before I pull the trigger on a purchase from Japan.

I don't know, I am a bit conflicted about buying a $200 rack for my Clementine.
I am sure it's great, but seems to go against the sort of knock about, economy
ethos of it. Especially, since I am starting to think of selling mine on.

Melanie, I found with swept bars, it's best to rotate the trigger shift
lever up, so the throw is about 45 degrees downward. (If looking at the end
of the bar, rotate the shifter clockwise so the paddle is higher. It's
easier to shift this way for me, and I have carpal tunnel and I am ulnar

I am sure about the weight. I have a Park DS-1 bike scale. I weighed it
when I took the photos. I coated the inside of the frame. The wide B-68 is
heavier than a B-17, The stem is steel. The 105 rear derailleur has steel
