Update on Berthoud Saddle twisting problem...
The "solution" piece was mailed to me by Bill from Wallingford Bikes (one
for each of my saddles) and I proceeded to install it as instructed. It's
actually a very simple solution, very light as it's made of aluminum and it

Yeah, those are tubulars. They are Vittoria Competition Rally. They
say 23, but measure closer to 24mm. I'm interested in trying the
Vittoria Pave model which goes all the way to 27mm, but at $100
apiece, I might wait a bit.

Are these the tubulars? If so, what are they and how wide are they?

That's great those tires fit. Makes me think I could squeeze them on
my Hilsen. Most likely I'll order up some of the 700cx40s before
summer.
And by the way, your SH looks great Gotta love the versatility of
Rivendell frames.

I agree! I put 35s on my Quickbeam after running 41s, and they don't
look right now. The tires don't rub on the fenders under acceleration
anymore, though.
That Hillborne doesn't really look fenderable to me, with those
tires.

Hi again , to be honest, I wasn't sure of what the pressure would be
in these tires before I bought them.
I also got the big Schwalbe tubes for 28x2.0 tires...so they are huge
underneath the tire.
The tire has 30-70ps printed on it, and at 40psi it's pretty firm. I
like having just a bit of squish
Good looking bike, you're lucky to have one of the green Sams (not
that the orange is so bad!). As someone who's new to fatter tires and
lower pressures, the combination of 50s and 38psi seems strange to
me. Do you notice much of a change in rolling resistance between
those and your last tires?
certainly looks fenderable to me... Nice looking Hillborne too!

I realized that after asking, though never got back to follow up. What does
the alternative look like on the Japanese version?
I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of my Waterford built AHH, so I'm more
curious than normal. :-)

It looks like the Shimano 7spd 14-34 Megarange cassette. I'm curious,
too, as to how shifting is, with it.
