Well, for my part I still think all of you are part of the RBWWHQ
secretly sponsored team.
I've read on the internets that this is a very secret project on the
part of Rivendell.
It was fun riding with and talking to you folks.

Not sure if I'll be there as I'm going for a ride at 7:30am. Perhaps
I'll be back for it. We'll see.

I get the same chirp from time to time and usually just lube the

When my rear derailers have started to chirp, it has nearly always
been dry pulleys, but usually when the derailer is stretched onto
larger cogs while on the large chainring. Dave has the right idea,
hang the bike so you can observe. Then eliminate one variable after

If it is shifting fine, it's not in the adjustment.
You can try lubing anywhere the derailer pivots. These spots are easy
to identify. Put the bike in a stand, hang it level from the rafters
or even flip it upside down and remove the wheel. You'll be able to
work the derailer back and forth to fin

anyone got a read on this?
my Sam has started to squeak when pushing (thumbies) the rear der onto a
smaller sprocket - i get one short bird noise when quickly shifting "out".
also, when on the smallest one, it's chirped regularly for 10-15 feet at a time
a couple of times.
sounds just like
I seem to recall a post that Silver Silvers could not be used with
Paul Thumbies. Well, it looks like Rivendell has come up with a way
to make them work with each other.

Here's a link to the Tektro website which seems to indicate the FL730
brake levers are for mini-v and caliper brakes?

Grant just posted an update on the busted frame reconditioning
program. They are called renovelos (like revovation + velo, not Reno,
NV + Velo). The price range looks really appealing (to me).
I hope there will be something for me in the grab bag!

I've had levers with an adjuster dial that allows you to pull the
cable head farther away from the pivot for V-brakes, or bring it
closer to the pivot for calipers and cantis. I've had other levers
with a spacer that you invert to do the same thing. Paul cross top
levers actually have two p
Hmm, the VO model is Tektro FL730. The website said "calipers or
cantis." No mention of v-brakes. I honestly paid no attention to
whether there was a v-brake setting. How does that normally work? Is
there a switch or is there a different anchor point for the cable
head?
I should give it a look

Back to the original post of Ginz .. Tekto levers are fine. . .
nothing wrong with them.
I don't know what model of Tekto levers you bought from VO(none
currently listed), but the Tekro's I'm familiar with have a setting
for V brakes OR Cantilver. Are you sure you have them set for Canti's?
