I am not sure what has happend, but after some
stopping and starting of the supervised services,
I seem to have resolved the issue with the Q-S
not completing it's process.
For at least the last 3 days I have not seen a message
hang for any reason.

Messagewall (RBL/SPAMNET/body content tagging)
Qmail (temp spool for mail prior to Q-S getting it)
Qmail with Qmail-Scanner (uvscan,fprot)
Running on Redhat 7.3
I have looked at our system and haven't seen anything like what your
describing.

running qmail 1.3 in supervised mode.
using messagewall 1.8 as a front end to qmail.
using iscan scanner 3.1
