The Hub Kings Cross is another nice place to have things hosted at, though
I think there may be costs associate with it. Might be worth looking into
as well.

I'm still keen to get things going and I'm just waiting for final approval
for use of our facilities before I start arranging things.

A Python Sprint is a fantastic idea as well.
I've double checked our facilities and we can easily accomodate 35 in the
theater and can squeeze in another 7 chairs up front (might be a little
cramped though) and there's a little bit of standing room off the side.
I think 40-45 people would be the
Hi Nick,
Absolutely, is there a system in place somewhere to help coordinate these
or is it on an ad-hoc basis? Do you just check Lanyard or something?

he case let me know and
we can work something out. Maybe the python dojo stays as it is and we
concentrate on a Python hackathon on the weekend (which I really like the
idea of).

I like the idea of a hackathon and the venue would lend itself well to
this. I've been told that we won't have budget for food or drink but I have
other contacts that I may able to convince to help sponsor the events. As I
said, it's early days yet and I've only just started the formal process for
There's no reason we couldn't host two events a month at the Global office
(Leicester Square). I have to get sign off but it seems possible. We have a
theatre that will seat around 40 people for presentations. I'll wait until
I get final approval before moving forward.

I'd be up for hosting something on Sunday (maybe Saturday) at the office
(Global Radio) in Liecester Square on Sundays if anyone is interested. It's
likely I could get something sorted once a month. We have a proper theater
along with breakout 6 rooms and other large spaces.

I think the consensus was in the affirmative as long as it was directed and
didn't come across as being spam-like (frequency perhaps).

I say we ease the discussion and just write it in Perl.
While not everyone will know Django it is fairly simple to get your head
around. Beyond that the time to release should be minimal with something
like Pinax, which I'm guessing would give us ~80% of our core functionality
for a site like this

Hi Mike,
You should really use easy_install to install pip under your main python
site-packages along with virtualenv/virtualenvwrapper and then use PIP after
you mkvirtualenv. PIP is aware of virtual environments so you shouldn't have
any trouble in this regard.
Basically, install PIP in your gl
clipse can sometimes make you want to pull your
hair out. For the most part the little trouble I've had has been well worth
it.
