Gabriel, actually what I did was go ahead and write the whole sequence of the commit(i.e. PATCH_NUMBER, BUG_NUMBER, etc) to a file, and then I read in that file and put them into a list. Then I used line.startswith() to go through and pull out the OVERVIEW onlyJ   Thanks,   Bryan Leber
