I've read "Begining Python" written by Hetland from Apress. I enjoyed
it a lot. I also liked reading "Dive into Python" (also from Apress)
for those who already know a language. A free edition is at
diveintopython.org.

I've purchased a couple of books on Python and I keep going back to Python
in a Nutshell. It's about the only printed text I keep on my desk all the
time. It has a nice introduction to the language and includes the
specification, too.
