Dear all,
We installed yesterday six brand new Dell PCs with winXPpro/SP2 (fully
updated) and encounter exactly the same error (and also...the solutions
in the pymol wiki didn't help us so far). Anyone a solution?
Thanks in advance.

Dear all,
We found a very simple (and trivial) solution to the problem. We
rebooted winXP in safe-mode (logged in as adminstrator) and installed
pymol without any problem. Now it runs fine.

curious under
which distribution pymol is developed/tested and what people generally
are using to run pymol (with 3D capability!)??
Thanks a lot for the info.

under
Fedora7. Pymol also runs fine so probably I will switch both machines to
Fedora7. Anyway, thanks again!

The monitor is a high-end 21" (EIZO Flexscan T966) and we are using a

Thanks a lot in advance.
