Yes that appears to work wiith qt5-wayland package installed. I run pymol
in a container so the command is
#!/bin/bash -e
export LC_LANG="en_US.utf8"
toolbox -v run --container pymol bash -exec 'QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb
~/Pymol/install/bin/pymol'
