Problem solved, thanks to Folmer Fredslund, to whom I am obliged!
So, I will give you an idiot's guide on how to make PyMOL to produce movies,
in Ubuntu:
* Download freemol-freemol.tar.gz from:
http://www.bioinformatics.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/freemol/trunk/freemol/?view=tar
* Copy freemol-free
Nope! I do not know what I am supposed to do with it (where to find it and how
to compile it, if necessary)... Any idea, David?
BTW: The link to the Parallel Berkeley Encoder (mpeg_encode) is not working.
Nevertheless, we can still get freemol from bioinformatics.org. I have the
feeling that I
Do you have the python code from freemol.org ?

Dear PyMOL users,
I use Kubuntu 14.04. I compiled PyMOL, following some instructions on the web.
This produced the directory:
/opt/pymol-svn/
and a symbolic link to pymol executable:
/usr/bin/pymol -> /opt/pymol-svn/pymol*
PyMOL works fine. Nevertheless, when I try:

What recent video cards do you recommend for running Pymol on Windows?

amazing; I just discovered vSkype, a video plugin for Skype. It can handle
up to 200 users simultaneously, and you can also share your desktop or just
a part of your desktop (i.e. a window). Skype is available for multiple

Warren + Community,
What about non-Mac users ? Also there is a great solution for
interactive conferences called www.gotomeeting.com. I'm not sure if
there is video conferencing or not. However, the conference call
(without a conference call phone) and the desktop sharing was superb for
PyMOL Users,
We have now had several productive in-person users group meetings here
in SSF. For those that are local to us, clearly nothing beats realtime
in-person interaction.
But for the rest of the PyMOL community, we are still interested in

Bink&Smacker is good, if you like DivX! Don't know how that compares to
the above mentioned codecs, but it should work quite well.
