A lot of my students ran into the same problem this past fall - there are a
bunch of notes on the list regarding nVidia graphics drivers that seem to be at
the root cause of the problem - you might want to try a search under WinXP and
Pymol...

This sounds vaguely similar to the msvcr71.dll issues that were recently
discussed on the list (searching the list archives will give you more info
on this, but the quick fix is to search the hd for msvcr71.dll and copy it
