Hello,
I've tried using mysql on another server as well. No crashes since we
use the server for other DBs as well.
Luke, you asked about multiple ruby versions. yes there are: one from
ubuntu, and 1.8.6-p111 with RailsBench GC patch at /usr/local/bin/
ruby. I made sure that both had all necessar

Yea I want to make sure puppetmaster returns some sort of valid
result. Though the monit for memory leaks is not a bad idea.
More than just pinging a port.
For example in our case we monitor PHP. We've had PHP crap out for a
few customers, so we monitor a phpinfo page to make sure php returns
well.. it shouldnt...
just another stupid question, your clocks are in sync right?

I use monit to monitor the puppet masters (e.g. mongrels), for memory leaks
etc but I dont think what you had in mind...
Cant we just use one of the load simulators to check if you get a config?

Hi All,
I have puppet monitoring down pat, what's the best way to monitor
puppetmasterd? We currently monitor the puppetmaster port but would
like to monitor something to make sure not only if the port is alive
but the puppetmaster is returning results.
I assume this will become easier when RES
Is there any particular reason you're copying the certificates and
whatnot by hand instead of using the built in mechanisms?

Don't know, precisely. I don't believe I made any OS changes.
Let's see; in puppet I changed firewall.pp to add another flavor
(sub-class), and added an iptable
i've copied the ca.pem from the master to the client. Now i'm back to

The speed benefits of Ruby 1.9 are amazing overall and I was wondering
if Puppet, as it stands, is deliberately compatible.
I've tried digging through the mailing lists and might just be missing
it, if so, I apologize for the oversight.

Just so you know, it looks like pretty much everything has to start
lower case or Ruby/Puppet tries to interpret it as something else.
I.e. variables, class names, node names, etc...
Also, try really hard not to use a variable name that is the same as a

I've been in a few situations where it would be *really nice* to have
something happen at the end, or beginning, of everything.
This does, of course, lend itself to ordering abuse, but every bit of

Which characters are allowed in the class name and module name ?
Is the "-" allowed ?
I create the bug 1960 for this.
