There's a problem with CDROM reading mechanism in RH 8.0.
I tried to copy a 90MB file from CDROM to my harddisk running RH 8.0 but
it didn't work
No mounting problem... the drives can read the files using ls command
I'm using 2 drives (hdc and hdd) with scsi hd. 1 drive is cdrom only and
the othe
(hdc), sector 550692
hdc is my cdrom drive
I try to scan the disc, but there's no error

I don;t know about the "vesa" driver I think it will run for Geforce 3 & 4 as
the default driver in Psyche. While I still use Geforce 2 and the default use
"nv". I test it with game such tux racer and chromium, using the "nv" driver
is drop... but not with the "nvidia" driver works better
What kind of SCSI controller do you have ??
and How does Grub recognized all of your harddisk (hd0,hd1...)? What system do
U have in your IDE drive ? Can U see / access the SCSI drive from the IDE
drive using the system U have on the IDE ?

As far as I know, AVA series is not a bootable SCSI card. Often it's being used to
attach SCSI peripheral such as scanner, ZIP or other non-bootable device. So, if U
try it, it won;t work.
Not just Linux but other O/S will not boot if U use this SCSI controller. (Correct
me if I'm wrong)
Try gett
Your mobo doesn't have on-board SCSI controller, so what controller do you use ?
You can set the BIOS boot sequence in your "BOOT" menu in "1st to 8th Boot
Device" and make sure you choose SCSI over IDE-HDD.
And try to set Plug & Play O/S to "Disable"
