My laptop's system speaker uses the same speakers as
the sound card. The problem is, that when I'm in class
and using one of the terminals I have problems with
the speakers being too loud.. how can I disable it or
have the speakers with a lower volume?

Batteries get old... the best thing to keep them in
shape is to let the batteries run out and then do a
complete recharge.. also, using the an adapter when
the battery is full is bad... the batteries are
supposed to have a "memmory." you can find more in

I need help burning some cd... I have a hp cd
writer... it's a 9100 series that can bur up to 8x. I
try the following:
cdrecord speed=6 dev=0,0,0 /path/tofile
but cdrecord always burns at 4x. help would be
apreciated..

Thanks for everyone that been helping me... I got the
stupid drive to work at a faster speed. I didn't want
to burn at 8x. I don't know whay but I didn't, I guess
I not in my senses... Still I tried to run at that
speed today and it works... but not at 6x... very
strange indeed...

i have a compaq presario. it has a conexant modem and
network combo built in. i made the modem work using
the driver from http://www.mbsi.ca/cnxtlindrv/ the
problem i having is getting the network adapter to
work. does any one here know what i need to make it
work?

I tried using dvdrecord at speed 6 but didnṫ
work... it only wants to burn at speed 2, 4, and 6...

The best way is to put in the fstab file to not mount
the drive automatically. this will allow you to have
access to de drive as the owner for that user that
mounted the drive... what? hehe.. sorry bad

last month I had several problems with kernel panics
after installing new hardware. I have solved the
problem by insatalling a new power supply. I guess
that the old psu was sufficient for the new graphic
card. thanks to Andrew for helping me out... by the
way.. happy new year to everyone..
