I know its an old game but... has anyone here gotten quake to run on RH
8. I've never installed these syle games on Linux and frankly am afraid
of fessing up my install. I read the how-to, and several sites, but all
are outdated and leave me wondering if i can/should do it on my sys.

While i like evolution as an email program, i do seem to have some
problems adjusting to it's methods of filters.
Is there someplace to see a log of filtering so i can look at a given
'filtered' message and no which filter nailed it, so as to better tune
my filters?
It also seems i get reproducin
system tools -> Internet configuration wizard
then after configuring, to start-stop:
system tools -> network device controls
i know they work well since i just set up my mom's and i haven't gotten
any calls! ;-)

Many thanks to all those who offered help on my IDE errors. It ended up
being the IDE cable, as it wasn't the newer type.
Now I get nice clean boots again.

I installed, formatted etc, this drive in the RH8 install program. This
using the old cable (UDMA 33 Style). When I
how can i view the contents of an audio cd?
the gnome cd player plays them fine, but i wanted to look at the cd's
contents.
tried mounting as an iso9660 but i guess that is wrong for an audio cd.

when the power button on my computer was pressed. Is there any way to do

That's odd. I had no idea WIN XP did that. I don't think Linux could do
that because among other things, the discs are sync'd on shutdown by

Did you just try re-configuring X?
ie:
root# xf86config
save your old file (/etc/X11/XF86Config , note upper case ) and try it.
a lot of times its bailed me out when i couldn't make heads or tails out
of the errors.
I can not believe some of the suggestions that redhat is incompetent
because they did not provide a shortcut to this or that program on your
desktop
And then to suggest they should offer different distros w/ diff
shortcuts for diff programs. this is the distro w/ a shortcut to gimp..

How do I configure a second nic (pci if that matters)?
as soon as the second nic is installed, i lost everything.
edited .../ifcfg-eth1 to not activate on boot, rebooted, and eth0
came back. I realize there is something obvious to many that i am just
not seeing here.
