Okay, I am hoping that this is a question with a simple answer, but I have googled and googled and RTFMed and RTFMed to no avail whatsoever. RedHat 8.0 comes with a "compat-gcc" (and compat-libstdc++) package set which purports to be able to produce binaries which will run on RedHat 7.x systems.
