problems. The .tar.gz he downloaded afterwards gave him no grief. (I
dont know what was wrong with the RH 2.4.20 RPM other then 'it didnt
work my hardware' :/)

For Gnome2 and fontconfig and Xft2, you really only need to copy the
fonts into one of the font directories (ie ~/.fonts) and run fc-cache.
