I am using 2.0.1 versions on Linux. I just tried your version (on Linux)
and get the same error message:

error: DO IF: At end of input: Syntax error expect
Entering the missing End If solved the problem and DISCRIPTION did work. But,
as mentioned below, the strange thing is that you got an error message for that
and I did not. My version is GNU pspp 2.0.0-g5b54d1. Is that the same that
you are using?
