I agree 100%. I am unfortunately constrained by a need to be up and running and
a manufacturer's lack of immediate support available for CentOS 7. Soon,
hopefully, it will be an option, as this is an upgrade from CentOS 5 which is
End of Life, I believe.

Centos6 is currently 7 years old and is almost at the end of its life. As
such, there will be,
like you say, lots of issues.
Centos7 on the other hand should be much easier (but I haven't tried).
