Would doing this work mean you are missing out on other work?

I'm writing an io intensive parse/update program that has to run
non-stop 24/7. I've only been able to keep it running for 3 - 4 hrs due
to c++ buffer overrun problems. Reminds me of the memory leak problems
that we used to have under windows nt, but I don't have any idea how to
proceed. Ideas?

That's the thing that reminds me of the old memory leak problems: the
app needs to switch many objects into & out of activity rapidly, eg read
10 bytes from the data feed, find the object to handle the bytes etc...
Lots of this stuff so the logging frequency would probably have to be
every few seco
Isn't this similar to a recent thread about restricting the program to
physical memory? (using Ed's utility)

In the logging mechanism, I would check what the last time logged was.
If it was less than 10 minutes, don't log. If greater, then drop a log
entry and then reset the counter.

sure. He's always been circumspect about his age, and a gentleman never

which can grow to be quite large, I just store null to ... I guess I
could dimension obj.Array[1] in the cleanup. Many of the objects are
reused.

VMWare has it's video and bios.
Virtual PC has it's own.

are always all running at the same time. They share CPU, Memory and Disk
IO as needed - or can be setup to be very stingy about what they share.
