how do they forward?
Using virtual_alias_maps - Lookup into a database, that returns the field
alias as destination (alias due to a backend expecting that particular
fieldname). If there is more than one for
Realized that my usage of "local" for my users, is wrong terminology, they are
all virtual users.

Hi,
Slight repost from earlier, with answered questions removed. I still had these
open, if anyone can shed any light that would be great.
I have setup postfix recently on my AWS instance and things work pretty well. I
can read (dovecot) and sent (postfix) and all works well. I experienced some
We solved this problem by enabling postscreen on port 26, and forwarding port
25 on the ELB to port 26 on the instance, with Proxy Protocol enabled.
This allows our local clients to connect as normal via port 25 direct to the
instance, and remote incoming mail to be processed by postscreen.
In spite of its old age, I use the "Postfix" book by Kyle Dent for ease of
basic reference. I am now stepping through configuration and I can't find
whether the postfix commands should be executed as root or the postfix user.
I think it should be as root, but would appreciate an expert opinion.

"The postfix commands" is ambiguous. While launching Postfix needs to
be done as root, other functions can be performed by other users. For

I'm reading about some conflicting opinions of the spf record (via a
TXT record) and wonder if there is a consensus view among the postfix
developers.
Thanks.

Hi,
I was unaware of the controversy. I can tell you that for the specific example
given :
(For example, a person who uses their home ISP's SMTP servers to send mail with
their work email as the address.)
I was for years tagging and delivering on SPF failures with my appliances. Just
