This is a known limitation of local aliases, use virtual aliases
instead. There are also work-arounds for local aliases,

When I send email to mygroup, it is successfully delivered to user1 and user2,
but user3 has a full mailbox (hit the mailbox_size_limit). So the message gets
queued:
